Infrastructure, environment and operational readiness
The start of the year brought important confirmation of the quality of Urtica’s infrastructure. The Gillette Park complex in Łódź – the company’s office and warehouse – was awarded BREEAM International In-Use certification, achieving an ‘Excellent’ rating for environmental performance and a ‘Very Good’ rating for facility management.
These results confirmed that issues relating to energy, water, air quality and resource management are firmly embedded in the company’s operating principles and the implementation of its ESG strategy. In the months that followed, environmental responsibility was also tangibly demonstrated by the Clean Advantage certificate, confirming Urtica’s participation in the transport fleet emissions offset scheme.
At the same time, the company strengthened its operational readiness and regulatory compliance. One of the key moments of the year was the extension of the scope of the GIF licence, covering the ability to purchase, store and export medicinal products outside the EU/EFTA, as well as formal authorisation to conduct export operations.
The Urtica warehouse has also gained the capability to store cryogenic materials at temperatures as low as -150°C, which has significantly increased its capacity to handle the most demanding therapies.
Knowledge
Technology and education in support of medication safety
The year 2025 also saw Urtica further consolidate its role as an organisation that promotes pharmaceutical safety in Poland by expanding knowledge and digitising processes.
In October, the company was once again featured in the UN Global Compact Network Poland Yearbook 2025. Its inclusion in the list highlighted the importance of the e-Urtica portal – a tool that supports hospitals and medical facilities in accessing information about medicines and managing the availability of treatments.
This is an example of the practical application of technology in the field of healthcare, in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
At the same time, INFARMA certification has formally reinforced the long-standing educational activities carried out by Urtica as part of regional scientific and training conferences. Transparent conference organisation principles, a clear separation of substantive content from promotional activities, and a high standard of cooperation with partners have confirmed that the transfer of knowledge in the healthcare sector goes hand in hand with ethics and responsibility.
It is precisely this combination of expertise, experience and technology that gives the organisation its competitive edge and enhances the stability of the entire medicines distribution system.
People
The team and social responsibility
Behind all the certificates, processes and solutions are people. The year 2025 provided ample evidence that Urtica’s strength lies in the consistent work of its team of specialists and an organisational culture based on collaboration and accountability.
The company’s social initiatives were featured in the Responsible Business Forum’s report ‘Responsible Business in Poland: Good Practices’, which highlighted, amongst other things, the staff volunteering programme run in partnership with the Urtica Dzieciom Foundation, the ‘Get Fitted for Kilometres’ project and the environmental activities of the Urtica Green Team.
At the end of the year, during the ‘Lower Silesian Golden Hundred’ gala, Urtica was awarded the title of Corporate Social Responsibility Leader 2024 for the Foundation’s long-standing art therapy initiatives in oncology and haematology wards, as well as its practical support for children and their families.
That same evening, the company also took 10th place in the ‘100 Best Companies in Lower Silesia 2024’ ranking, confirming its steady growth and strong market position.
November brought another accolade – first place for Renata Biel in the ‘100 Businesswomen’ ranking, in the category for companies with turnover in excess of 50 million zlotys.
The year was rounded off by the company being awarded the ‘Well-Regarded Company’ title for the fourth year running by the Business Centre Club, confirming its enduring reputation based on quality, trust and consistency in its operations.
