DOZ Maraton Łódź 2017 za nami. Było głośno!

DOZ Marathon Łódź 2017 reached its finish line. It was loud!

The seventh DOZ Łódź Marathon was held between 21 and 23 April 2017. The event was attended by thousands of runners from Poland and abroad. This year, the motto of the DOZ marathon Łódź was: “The Loudest Marathon in Poland”.

Nearly 1,300 participants came to run the official distance of 42 km 195 m. Samson Barmao from Kenya won the men’s race (2.14:19), while Kenza Dahmani from Algeria was the fastest female runner (2.33:21).

The runners raced along the main streets of Łódź, passing by the revitalised historic building of the EC1 CHP plant, the recently opened Łódź Fabryczna Railway Station and the historic Księży Młyn district.

The Ibuprom Sport 10k Run was organised concurrently to the marathon. There were over 2,300 participants. The race was won by a Łódź resident - Tomasz Osmulski (32:55). Only two seconds later, Paweł Matner crossed the finishing line, while Krzysztof Pietrzyk came third (33:05). Furthermore, Zuzanna Mokros won the women’s race (37:04), while Martyna Balcerzak and Natalia Grzegorczyk came in as second (38:46) and third (39:03), respectively.

The finish line of both races was traditionally located at the Atlas Arena hall, guaranteeing an unforgettable finish and multimedia setting.

The day before, on Saturday, April 22nd, the Pelavo Kids Run took place at Łódź City Stadium. Over 800 participants of the ages of 3 to 15 raced at various distances.

To earn the name of the Loudest Marathon in Poland, there were over 50 cheering points along the DOZ Marathon route. The route was divided into 7 zones featuring different music genres, including club, rock, jazz, folk, pop and world music. The musical setting was supervised by the Artistic Director of DOZ Marathon Łódź - Piotr Rogucki - musician, songwriter, lead singer of Coma band – and DOZ Łódź Marathon runner.

Apart from the music spots, the runners were also encouraged by cheering fans. Fan zones were set up by over a dozen local schools as part of the “Cheering Champion” competition, as well as by companies participating in the “Businesses for the Marathon” competition. The runners were also loudly cheered by the employees of Pelion companies: DOZ S.A., Polska Grupa Farmaceutyczna S.A., Pharmapoint S.A., Business Support Solution S.A. In addition to epruf S.A and DOZ Dbam o Zdrowie Foundation.

DOZ Łódź Marathon 2017 kept on promoting the modern charity model as part of the “I run - I help” initiative, encouraging the runners to make voluntary charity donations to the benefit of three social organisations: Iskierka Foundation, the Stroke Foundation and SOS Children’s Villages Association. The DOZ Dbam o Zdrowie Foundation was, as always, a partner of the ‘I run - I help’ initiative.

DOZ S.A. is the title sponsor of Łódź marathon.

DOZ Łódź Marathon, as Poland’s premier running event, has been awarded a 5 Star European Athletics certificate and the rare IAAF Road Race Silver Label. These two awards confirm the event’s sporting and organisational excellence.
